The Manali to Leh Motorcycle Expedition is one of the most thrilling Himalayan road adventures, taking riders through the dramatic landscapes of Lahaul, Zanskar, and Ladakh. This journey combines remote mountain passes, high-altitude lakes, ancient monasteries, and some of the highest motorable roads in the world.

The expedition begins in Manali, where riders receive a detailed briefing about the route, riding conditions, and altitude safety. From there, the journey takes you across the rugged terrain of Shinkula Pass into the remote Zanskar Valley, followed by an unforgettable ride toward Leh via Kargil.

Throughout the expedition, riders explore the cultural heart of Ladakh, visit iconic destinations like Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Hanle, Umling La region, and Tso Moriri, and experience the unique landscapes of the trans-Himalayan desert.

DAY 1
Day 1 – Arrival & Ride: Manali to Padum via Shinkula Pass

The expedition begins in Manali with a trip briefing covering the route, riding guidelines, altitude awareness, and safety instructions.After the briefing, riders begin their journey towards Zanskar Valley, crossing the beautiful Shinkula Pass. The ride offers spectacular views of rugged Himalayan landscapes and remote mountain roads. Arrival in Padum by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel/guesthouse in Padum.

DAY 2
Day 2 – Padum to Leh via Kargil

After breakfast, the ride continues from Padum towards Kargil, following scenic mountain routes through the Zanskar region. The route offers dramatic views of barren mountains, river valleys, and remote Ladakhi landscapes. From Kargil, continue the journey towards Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Leh.

DAY 3
Day 3 – Leh Local Sightseeing

After breakfast, explore the famous attractions around Leh. Places to visit may include:

  • Shanti Stupa
  • Leh Palace
  • Magnetic Hill
  • Gurudwara Pathar Sahib
  • Sangam (Indus–Zanskar Confluence)

Evening free to explore the Leh market. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 4
Day 4 – Leh to Nubra Valley (via Khardung La) & Turtuk Visit

After breakfast, ride towards Nubra Valley, crossing the famous Khardung La Pass. Descend into the beautiful Nubra Valley and continue riding towards Turtuk, one of the northernmost villages in India known for its Balti culture and stunning views. Return to Nubra Valley by evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Nubra Valley.

DAY 5
Day 5 – Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake

After breakfast, ride from Nubra Valley to the breathtaking Pangong Lake via scenic high-altitude routes. Pangong Lake is famous for its crystal-clear waters and dramatic mountain surroundings. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and sunset views near the lake. Dinner and overnight stay near Pangong Lake.

DAY 6
Day 6 – Pangong Lake to Hanle (Umling La Region)

After breakfast, ride towards the remote village of Hanle, one of the most isolated and scenic regions in Ladakh. During the journey, riders explore the Umling La region, known for one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Hanle is also home to one of the world’s highest astronomical observatories. Dinner and overnight stay in Hanle.

DAY 7
Day 7 – Hanle to Tso Moriri Lake

After breakfast, ride towards the stunning Tso Moriri Lake, located in the Changthang region of Ladakh. The route passes through remote landscapes and high-altitude plains, offering spectacular views of untouched Himalayan terrain. Arrival at Korzok village near Tso Moriri Lake. Dinner and overnight stay near Tso Moriri.

DAY 8
Day 8 – Tso Moriri to Leh

After breakfast, begin the return ride towards Leh, passing through remote Ladakhi villages and high-altitude landscapes. Arrival in Leh by evening. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Leh.

DAY 9
Day 9 – Leh to Jispa

After breakfast, riders begin the journey back towards Himachal Pradesh. Ride through the stunning landscapes of More Plains, Pang, and Sarchu, before reaching Jispa in Lahaul Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Jispa.

DAY 10
Day 10 – Jispa to Manali

After breakfast, continue the ride towards Manali, passing through the scenic Atal Tunnel and Lahaul Valley. Arrival in Manali by afternoon. Departure from Manali to Delhi by Volvo bus. The expedition ends with unforgettable memories of riding through the majestic Himalayas.
